Our location gives you ready access to some outstanding cultural institutions and art galleries in Dallas. Here’s an overview—a very-much-non-exhaustive overview, mind you—of some of them!

Dallas Museums to Explore on a Hotel Crescent Court Getaway

From the aeronautical and astronautical awesomeness of the Frontiers of Flight Museum to the profound history of the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, the Dallas museums within easy reach of your Hotel Crescent Court guestroom or suite cover a lot of incredible territory.

Consider, for example, the Dallas Museum of Art, among the largest art museums in the country and just a mile or so from our luxury hotel. Established in 1903, the DMA’s permanent collection exceeds 24,000 pieces, and meanwhile it hosts a marvelously curated lineup of temporary exhibitions each year.

Among the offerings currently on display at the DMA are Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Sam F (through August 13th), which the celebrated American artist painted here in Dallas in 1985; Focus On: Rashid Johnson (through September 10th), presenting Johnson’s The New Black Yoga Installation; and Saint, Sinners, Lovers, and Fools: 300 Years of Flemish Masterworks (through October 10th), showcasing 15th to 17th-century paintings from Flanders.

Then there’s the crowd-pleasing Perot Museum of Nature & Science, an outstanding science/natural-history museum known for such permanent exhibits as the Expanding Universe HallTexas Instruments Engineering & Innovation Hall, and the dinosaur-trammeled T. Boone Pickens Life Then & Now Hall. Current exhibitions at the Perot Museum include The Science Behind Pixar, presented through September 4th.

Other museums very much worth visiting include the African American Museum of Dallas, which among other treasures boasts one of the biggest collections of African-American Folk Art in the U.S., and Dallas Contemporary, currently showing Cerámica Suro: A Story of Collaboration, Production, and Collecting in the Contemporary Arts.

Dallas Art Galleries

Besides its multiple art museums—which, besides those mentioned above, also include the lauded Crow Museum of Asian Art—Dallas boasts a fine share of art galleries. Examples include the Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden, the Talley Dunn Gallery, and the Goss-Michael Foundation.
