The State Fair of Texas

Fall in Dallas means the State Fair of Texas, of course: the biggest and longest-running fair in the country, launched all the way back in 1886. A genuine National Historic Landmark, this gathering is underway in 2021 from September 24th through October 17th, presided over by “Big Tex” the giant cowboy mascot and basically chockfull of fun. Better than three million fairgoers attend this spectacular event in Fair Park; maybe you’ll be in the ranks this year!

Grapevine Grapefest

The 35th annual GrapeFest will take place September 16th through September 19th in Grapevine, Texas: another splendid iteration of the Southwest’s biggest wine festival. Vino fans will definitely want to make a pilgrimage here, sampling some fabulous grape and otherwise enjoying the ambience. Highlights of the four-day soiree include the People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic and the ItalianCarFest.

Autumn at the Arboretum

Mark fall in classic style at the Dallas Arboretum, where Autumn at the Arboretum embraces the season full-on. A centerpiece, per usual, is the Pumpkin Village, bedecked with 90,000-plus pumpkins, squash, and gourds sourced from Floydada, Texas—the famed Pumpkin Capital of the Lone Star State. This year will also present the all-ages fun of Bugtopia, which’ll feature a plethora of dazzling insect topiaries. 

The Dallas Cowboys

Fall means football season, right? And over at AT&T Stadium, America’s Team will be doing its thing on the gridiron: a signature Dallas autumnal experience, needless to say! The Cowboys will be hosting the Philadelphia Eagles on September 27th, the Carolina Panthers on October 3rd, the New York Giants on October 10th, and the Denver Broncos on November 7th, to name only the early lineup of home-game opponents.
